Monte Stivo
Description
This gigantic tour starts in Bolognano at 130 meters above sea level. From here, the pass road climbs entirely on asphalt up to the Passo Santa Barbara (1169 meters above sea level). This ascent already feels endless, but you're only halfway up the entire climb. From here, the ascent is relatively moderate and leisurely on gravel for a while before it gets steeper and steeper towards Le Prese. From Le Prese to Malga Stivo Alm (1661 meters above sea level), only the toughest cyclists will be able to pedal uphill. From the alpine pasture to Monte Stivo, the route becomes even more difficult, but the magnificent panorama at the summit makes up for it. Shortly below at the Rifugio Marchetti, you can also stop for a bite to eat and replenish your strength, which is also needed for the trail descent with around 1900 Elevation loss.
First, the descent takes you along the Witchride back to Le Prese and along the trail towards Castello dell Castil. A maximum trail difficulty of S2 is reached here. At this level of difficulty, the route then continues downhill towards Santa Giacomo and back to the starting point, the wooded western flank of the massif. Countless trail meters are destroyed here and a broad permanent grin appears on your face. Not too difficult, not too easy, the trail challenges everyone in its own way and the width allows for interesting lines time and again. Back at the starting point, you can cool off your brakes in peace and quiet and round off the day in the local restaurant. The tour is particularly perfect in autumn when the views south across the whole of Lake Garda are magnificent.
