La Rosta – Sentiero 618-619

La Rosta

The La Rosta mountain ridge north of Lake Garda, at almost 1900 meters above sea level, offers a perfect combination of trails to the west as far as Pergolese near Lago di Toblino.

Description

The starting point of the tour is Pergolese. From here, the route climbs through typical Trentino farmland and vineyards up to Le Pozze, where the first downhill with difficulty levels S2 to S3 awaits. This leads down to Lasino. Now you can take in the Italian flair of the old town before the old road climbs steeply and steadily uphill to Lagolo. There is a short stop here, as the bike has to be carried over the barrier on the main road (watch out for traffic). From Lagolo, you wind your way up the main road to the biotopes between La Rosta and Cima Balon. Slowly but surely, the first far-reaching views open up and the magnificent panorama can only be soaked up. From the biotopes, the route continues on rough gravel to the Bocca di Vaiona (1700 meters above sea level) before the last few meters are fought for by pushing up La Rosta. For e-mountain bikers, the entire uphill is not a major issue, but biobikers have to get off the saddle due to the sometimes steep inclines. Once you reach the La Rosta ridge, you have a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the Adamello-Brenta Group and the lakes and views as far as the main Alpine ridge.

The descent initially starts at difficulty level S1 and increases in parts to difficulty levels S2 to S3 and goes straight down to Lagolo. Once you arrive in Lagolo, you first need to replenish your water reserves and tackle a short transfer route to the north. From here, it's on to the next trail fireworks. The route is very flowy and not significantly difficult on S1, in places S2, to the small village of Calavino. From Calavino, you cross side roads back to Lasino. In Lasino, you then return to the ascent variant for the final trail cut-off to Masi di Lasino, with the last few meters climbing once again to difficulty S2 before you finish the tour in Pergolese. Conclusion: A total of 13 kilometers of trail sweeten this day!

Checked 16.06.2025. To save altitude meters we started from Lasino. To save steepness, we rode everything on the road. That's a few more kilometers, but rideable. At the alpine garden we turned off onto the forest road, where you can still pedal. The last 100 m then meant pushing. The first few meters were a dream, narrow trails with roots through the forest. But as soon as we reached the road at 1440, the trail turned into what felt like a stream bed with loose rubble and lots of leaves. To be fair, we were riding in the rain, which is definitely no fun. The streambed alternated with a Roman path, the stones slippery from the rain. And unfortunately it went on like this until the end. All in all, a lot of effort for a less beautiful trail...

Thanks for the info! In general, the area in Trentino with "Sentier des Muletiers" is not a good idea in the rain. The foliage, mostly beech trees, with water makes the path extremely slippery.
