Navene-Trail

Navene-Trail

The Navene Trail is a Lake Garda classic with a start in Torbole, a long ascent, great panoramic views over the lake and a fast, long and flowing trail descent.

Description

Start the tour opposite the Carpentari bike store, ride past the Wind's Bar on the right at the traffic circle. After 100 meters, turn left and you come to Piazza Goethe. At the Hotel Centrale, the road branches off to the left and from here you ride up towards Monte Alttissimo and Bussatte. Now the tarred road climbs in a few bends up to Bussatte, past the Bussatte sports field on the left onto the forest road, which becomes a concrete road. The road now climbs steeply and you ride up to a T-junction. Here, turn left onto the tarred road that leads to Altissimo. From now on, the road climbs steadily. You can enjoy the beautiful view or count the many hairpin bends. In total, the climb is 12.5 kilometers long and 1200 meters in altitude. Shortly before you turn onto the gravel road, there are a few houses, which you ride past and after about 400 meters you come to the forest road straight ahead. The three signs say Malga Zurea, Nago and Dosso dei Roveri. A few more short climbs follow until you reach the forest road.

After two hairpin bends, the third on the left is the start of the Navene trail. It goes straight ahead quite quickly on a relatively wide path. Near Dosso dei Roveri, the trail becomes a little rocky and the key sections of the trail, a few steep, blocked passages, follow. The trail continues to descend in the typical rocky terrain of Lake Garda. You can really let it fly here. In the last section, we come to a roughly paved path with some steep sections. You can either stay on the path or branch off onto a small single trail, which repeatedly crosses the forest road until you reach a tarmac road at a barrier at the bottom, which you roll down to the main road. The Navene Trail is over six kilometers long and you ride down 1100 Elevation loss. At the main road, you roll back to Torbole. Unfortunately, there is no other way than the busy road. If you have enough time, you can also turn left to Malcesine and ride to Torbole or Riva by boat.

Note: The Navene Trail is S2 difficulty throughout with some S3 sections.

In spring 2024, the entire trail was turned into a wide field/cart path using excavators. So totally destroyed. What a pity. Now you can almost drive down by car. Not a single meter of single trail has remained. Too bad it used to be a great trail. It would be best to remove the route from the database now.

We rode the tour today. The upper part of the descent leads along a poorly maintained path. Lots of felled or broken trees. A lot of very rough gravel. The top part of the descent is definitely S4. Further down, the trail becomes increasingly easier and flowier. In the lowest part, you can't quite follow the GPS, as the trail is partly blocked and overgrown. So you stay more on the forest road.
