Val del Diaol
Description
The starting point is Torbole. From here, the route continues on asphalt with ever-improving panoramic views via Malga Zures below Doss Casina to Malga Casina. Countless trail cut-offs tempt you to break off the tour here and head back down to Lake Garda, but the ascent only ends shortly after Malga Casina in a small wooded area. This is where the notorious trail through the Val del Diaol begins. A trail with a difficulty of S2 to S3 rides over 1000 Elevation loss back to Lake Garda. Enduro bikers can give free rein to their skills and express themselves creatively on a wide variety of hairpin bends, flow passages, rock gardens and jumps. In the industrial area of Mala, you take a few side roads through Nago and then enter the final trail section at Marmitte dei Giganti with a difficulty of S3 to S4. This former enduro stage shows its teeth once again before you roll back to the starting point in Torbole.

We rode the trail - not the tour - today. A shuttle took us to the Albergo Rifugio Graziani and from there up the sometimes steep gravel road around 400 m to Monte Altissimo. The upper part of the famous Trail 601 takes you close to the Val del Diaol trail (also known as the "Skull trail"). The start and end of the trail are marked by wooden "gates". The lines of Ride and Trailforks are slightly different in the first half. I don't know which is the right one. You can't miss the trail at all. In some places it is also marked with white plastic tape.
For the most part, the trail is a blocked rockgarden with ledges. In contrast, it has hardly any switchback turns. It is certainly much more difficult when wet, because then all the stones are likely to be very slippery.
