Paternoster (Secret-Trail)
Description
We set off for the well-known bike village of Torbole. From here, the route winds its way steadily uphill along historic roads and panoramic paths towards Altissimo. Lake Garda flair is already evident at the start and the ascent is a panoramic highlight, especially in the morning sun. At an absolute altitude of 500 meters above sea level, you switch from the asphalt road to a steep path that rides up to the Paternoster, a former World War I defence line. The last 50 meters in altitude can only be mastered by pushing or carrying, before you arrive directly at the rocky edge of the Paternoster. Countless buildings from the First World War combine to create a fantastic view of northern Lake Garda, Monte Brione and the surrounding mountains.
The downhill trail, initially on difficulty S2 to S3, becomes increasingly easier and you surf via Segron on difficulty S1 to Nago. The transfer route through Nago is a mix of road and urban sections through historic old towns. The next downhill begins directly at the Marmitte dei Giganti parking lot. Now at difficulty levels S3 and S4, it's pretty tough here and the last few Elevation losses down to Torbole and the Fiume Sarca river are another highlight. Once you reach the settlement area, you roll back to the starting point and end up surrounded by pizza, pasta, cappuccino and gelati.
