Bocca Dromaé – Sella di Monte Cocca
Description
The tour starts on the north shore of Lake Ledro. From there, the route climbs steadily on paved and gravel surfaces with moderate gradients until, after a short push, you reach the Bocca Dromaé pass at 1,680 meters above sea level. During World War I, an important line of fortifications ran through this area, which is why countless military trails and structures are still in remarkably good condition today.
The route continues with a short climb and a panoramic traverse along the entire northern ridge of Cima Pari to Bocca di Saval. Here you’ll encounter old military buildings that originally served as an Austrian military hospital. The route then follows the forest road or cart track to Malga di Saval and finally leads onto a singletrack with the classic charm of Lake Ledro. Loose limestone in shady beech forests leads directly to Sella di Monte Cocca, the mountain pass high above the lake.
Here, take Trail 10 or 454, which leads directly down from Sella di Monte Cocca to Pieve di Ledro. Especially in the upper section, some eroded spots demand full concentration and a precise riding line. The rest of the route is consistent and, with a difficulty rating of S2 (S3 in the uppermost section), does not feature any excessively complicated passages. To finish, a short trail crossing awaits above the lake—technically comparable to the upper section—before you finally return to the starting point.
