Marchkinkele - Finanzieri-Trail
Description
The route starts in Dobbiaco. From here, the access road runs on asphalt and gravel over the Silvestertal valley on a forest path. At the beginning of the Blanken Valley, the route then takes you over the Silvesteralm, a military road from the Second World War with a few hairpin bends up to the Marchkinkele (2545 meters above sea level). The panoramic view served up here is one of the best in the Alps. Especially in autumn, the ascent combined with the massive buildings and the view of the Dolomites is fabulous. At the summit itself, you are on the Austrian/Italian border and the trail to Blankenstein also runs from here. An old military installation from the Second World War is also still in relatively good condition and runs along the Blankenstein, the so-called Herz-Ass-Tour, as a trail with difficulty levels S1 to S2 via the Finanzieri Trail down the 1B to the Toblacher Höhenweg and then back to the Silvesteralm. Depending on the weather conditions, the trails can vary in difficulty, as you are in high alpine terrain and the geological conditions in the area are not exactly the best. From the Silvesteralm, the route then climbs a little up to the Innicher Eck before heading past the Lachwiesenhütte on the 1A single trail with guaranteed flow back to the starting point.
