Rossalm – Pragser Wildsee
Description
The ideal starting point for the tour is the village of Schmieden near Niederdorf. Climb up the Altpragser Tal valley on a gravel road to Brückele. Now it gets tough: the 800-metre gravel road up to the Rossalm is extremely steep. If you don't have the thighs of a world champion, you will primarily tackle this ascent on foot. This ascent is the reason why this route is particularly suitable for e-mountain bikers. With the motorized support, the ascent can easily be done in the saddle. A stop at the Rossalm just below the culmination point is recommended simply because of the fun innkeepers. It's not far from the hut to the crossing, then it's time for the singletrail descent to Lake Braies. A flowing, fun but sometimes somewhat slippery path winds its way through the alpine terrain. After a short counter-climb, the trail is exposed for a short section and rides through a rock face. Riding is out of the question here, but pushing is no problem. However, the "key section" is only short, after which the trail continues in the style of the upper section. The trail finally ends directly on the shore of Lake Braies. Caution: there are a lot of day-trippers here. A slalom on a wide gravel road takes you to the large hotel, where the next and final section of trail begins. Unfortunately, this is only of short duration, but you roll comfortably down to Schmieden on an agile gravel road. The bottom line: this route is perfect for anyone who has wanted to visit Lake Braies for a long time, but would like to combine it with a good load of singletrack and Dolomite scenery.
