Dolomiti Superbike 2019

The Dolomiti Superbike is one of the most traditional marathon mountain bike races in the Alps. The route impresses with its scenic charm, as it encompasses the entire Alta Pusteria Valley with all the beauty of the Dolomites. Technically, the route is very easy and rides exclusively on gravel roads.

Description

The start and finish of the Dolomiti Superbike is Villabassa in Val Pusteria. From here, the first loop takes you around the Ratsberg mountain to the north. This takes you into the Silvester Valley and via Bodeneck to the village of Innichen. The following Superbike section covers the Sextner Valley, first on the southern side with the Rotwand, then after the change of direction at the Kreuzberg Pass on the northern side. This is the way back towards San Candido, taking in Monte Baranci along the way. Back in San Candido, you roll to Dobbiaco to tackle the third loop. This rides past Lake Dürrensee deep into the Dolomites. Here, the rock towers of the Three Peaks Nature Park and the Braies region tower into the sky. After Schluderbach, you climb up to Plätzwiese and thunder down the Altpragsertal valley towards the finish in Niederdorf. Conclusion: one of the most attractive marathon routes in the Alps in terms of scenery, but one that offers no technical challenges due to the lack of single trails.
