Sextner Gondeltour
Description
In Sesto, you start by hopping into the Helmjet cable car. Once at the top, however, the ascent to the Sillianer Hütte first requires your own muscle power. At first, the route leads along a gravel road, which then becomes narrower and rides as a wide trail up to the hut. Up to the culmination point a little after the Sillianer Hütter, 450 meters in altitude are overcome in this way - almost the entire ascent of today. Before heading downhill at full speed, you should take time to enjoy the panorama. The view across to the Sesto Dolomites with the Three Peaks in the background is first-class. The single trail (Elmo Trail) down to Negerdorf (yes, the hamlet is actually called that) is a wonder of curves consisting of many, many serpentines with an alpine trail character, which can be ridden smoothly and enjoyably with a solid riding technique. After the Negerdorf village, you head into the Molini trail and reach the valley station of the Drei-Zinnen cable car. The cable car rides up to the start of the Erla Trail, which is specially designed for mountain bikers and is more or less below the gondola lift. The trail rides almost continuously over forest floor, is velvety soft, but not without its problems in wet conditions due to the many roots. Finally, you cross over to Moos to the valley station of the Rotwand cable car. This is the feeder to the final Standschützen trail, which is also specially designed for mountain bikers. Like the other descents, the trail is not a flow highway, but a flowing and fun single trail. Back in Sesto, this tour adds up to a total of almost 2500 fun and flowy Elevation losses.

I can't get anything out of the Strandschützentrail (last descent). Perhaps it has been made a lot easier recently. It has hardly any fun parts. Neither tricky nor flowy. Most of it is covered with loose gravel. Only the lowest quarter has halfway fun root passages. In my opinion, this last descent is not worth it. If you want a fairly challenging descent from the Rotwand, you should take a look at the "Helm Enduro" ride tour. However, it's very challenging, especially when it's wet.
We rode the tour on 30.07.2023, very nice tour. However, at KM 9.5 - 10 the route is no longer correct. At the end of the narrow serpetines, the route continues straight ahead over the river and not steeply down to the right as the GPX says.
I rode the tour on 22.07.22. Beautiful panorama, trails in good condition, a bit of gravel road and at one point there is a bike ban which can be bypassed via gravel road. Some of the GPX data does not match the new trail guidance, but everything is self-explanatory.
