Fanes - Seekofel
Description
The starting point of the tour is the Sant'Uberto parking lot on the way from Cortina to Dobbiaco. For the tour, you roll downhill a short distance in the direction of Cortina and then ascend on a gravel road through the fantastic Val de Fanes. In this way, you climb up to the Limojoch, the transition to the St. Vigil region. The upcoming descent now also rides in this direction, sometimes on a gravel road, but usually on single trails down to the Rifugio Pederü. A sugar and caffeine boost is not a bad idea now, because the upcoming road up to Rifugio Fodara Vedla is mercilessly steep. The road rides less steeply from there to the Sennes hut. A singletrail loop towards the Seitenbachscharte is now planned. If you want to shorten the tour, head towards the Seekofel hut from here to reach the start of the descent. However, the ride through the Sennes plateau at the southern foot of the Seekogel is much more impressive in terms of scenery. Climb up a trail towards Seitenbachscharte, but then keep right below the crossing towards Seekofelhütte. There is a short stretch of gravel road before turning into the singletrail down to Lago Gran de Foses. This crisp section is the singletrail connection down to the Rifugio Malga Ra Stua and has a no-biking sign at the start. The only alternative descent option is via the gravel road. Immediately after the Rifugio, keep to the left of the gravel road onto a singletrail, which will eventually take you down to the starting point (interrupted by a few meters on the road).
Note: The tour can also be tackled from the St. Vigil region, starting and finishing at Rifugio Pederü.

i did this tour last wednesday. the scenery is hard to beat. as soon as you can go somewhere by car there are a lot of people (as is usual everywhere in the dolomites). the descent from rifugio fannes to rifugio pederu was quite crowded and it's no fun for hikers and bikers to constantly get out of the way. i recommend not doing this tour on weekends. if possible, avoid vacation periods.
